What is your earliest memory? Describe it in detail: the place, the setting, the sights, smells, and sounds.

My earliest memory of the abode I was born in. It was Spanish-style house, one of the biggest in our small village.  The houses during that time, about 63 years ago and much earlier because it was the home of my grandparents too. It was a two-storey home with the ground floor consumed by a sort of storage for harvest, mostly rice, and other stuff.  The top floor consisted of a huge living room, bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and toilet, a veranda and a foyer.  A spiral concrete stairs at the front of the house was our way to get to the second floor and a steep concrete stairs at the back would take us down to a small courtyard.

We had an artesian well and a pump and a small wash basin and sink in the kitchen.

The windows were big and made of capiz that would slide on panes with grooves.  There was a beautiful view of the rice fields at the back and the blue mountains were vivid from a distance on a sunny day.

I must have been a happy home filled with familial love as it was shared between us the children of Agripina and Edmundo Nazareno and my cousins, who were orphaned as a result of the tragic events during the Japanese occupation.
